You gotta read this. I found this a few days ago, thought I would share it with you. I am not sure if it is real, but who cares, its funny and that is all that matters. Here is the link
Here is a quick summary of what this is. Its an email sent back and forth from a guy who has a delinquent account and the bill collector emailing him back asking him to pay the money. Well the guy sends an email back offering them a drawing of a spider he did to compensate for the amount he owes. You should definitely read this if you want a good laugh.

According to physorg.com Taiwanese engineers developed a new wireless technology that makes WIFI and 3.5G cell phones speeds laughable. This new SoC design chip is 100 times faster than WIFI and 350 times faster than 3.5G and could possibly only cost $1 to make per chip in mass quantities.
The head of the project Professor Jri Lee of National Taiwan University (NTU) and UCLA PhD recently demonstrated the chip locally at NTU. According to physorg.com, “The system on a chip combines Front-End Circuits and an antenna array to reach the ultimate transmission speed.” The SoC chip was demonstrated at downloading a 4GB video in about 10 seconds which would take about 4.5 hours using a bluetooth device.

Have you seen the IG Nobel Prize winners? Do you even know what I am talking about?
Well, I have just recently heard about the annual IG Nobel Prizes given out each year around October and there are some interesting winners. As you might have figured out from the title of this post Sharee A. Umpierre, Joseph A. Hill, and Deborah J. Anderson did lab research and discovered that Coca Cola can be used as an effective spermicide. They don’t go into detail on how they experimented with this research, but we can only imagine. The research also showed that Diet Coke worked better than regular Coke. That is great, you can get less calories and prevent pregnancy at the same time!

Readers please don’t try this, I am pretty sure it is a parody and supposed to be taken lightly, the main title of improbable.com is “Research that makes people LAUGH and then THINK.” I did laugh but I tried not to think after reading about this one because what is the point.
Here are a couple more notable winners: For Biology Marie-Christine Cadiergues, Christel Joubert,, and Michel Franc of Ecole discovered that fleas living on a dog can jump higher than fleas that live on a cat, For the Economics prize Geoffrey Miller, Joshua Tybur and Brent Jordan found out that a strippers (professional lap dancers) “ovulatory cycle affects her tip earnings.”

I will admit that these two articles have nothing to do with each other except the whole aspect of two animals being under the influence of a drug. Another similarity between these two subjects is that both can be very destructive to themselves and others.
Starting off with the doctor being fired for drinking on the job

When I saw this, it kind of reminded me of a House TV episode except the whole part that in reality you get fired for such behavior. I know doctors jobs are stressful, probably more than most, but hopefully he didn’t act surprised when a patient noticed the smell of whiskey on his breath.
So according to the Associated Press a doctor in Massachussets, “lost the right to renew his medical license for allegedly trying to give a pregnant woman an epidural while drunk”. So not only is he putting himself in danger, he is putting a mother and her unborn child at risk as well. The story goes on to say that his right to renew his license will be reinstated if he stays sober for 18 months. That just sounds ridiculous to me. If a doctor is ever caught drinking on the job then his license should be revoked hands down, never, no way, gone, no more license. I don’t think that is being extreme at all. I understand jobs are stressful, but find some other way to alleviate please, especially if you are sticking needles in people.
Now on to the Chinese Heroin Addicted Elephant

So apparently illegal elephant traders laced bananas with heroin so they could control an elephant. Seems like an expensive way to take control of an elephant but what do I know, I’m not an illegal elephant trader. If you are an illegal animal trader let me know why using heroin is the best way to control an animal in general, or if that is just the best way for elephants.
The traders got arrested in 2005 and the elephant was found going through drug withdrawal. The Chinese government had to send the elephant to a detox program that took two years to clear the elephant of its heroin addiction. According to Reuters, “A year of methadone injections at five times the human dosage had helped wean Xiguang off his addiction”. That is good to hear.
I hope this article helps anyone who notices someone buying large amounts of heroin, so you know it could be an illegal animal trader.
